MARUAH Essay Contest for Young Singaporeans on their vision for a Singapore beyond Lee Kuan Yew

Eligibility

1. Participants must be Singapore citizens born in the year 1990 or later.

Contest categories

2. There are two categories in the contest:

  1. Contestants who have ever enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) program. This includes graduates of, and current or former undergraduate students in any local or overseas University or College.
  2. Contestants who have never enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program. This includes any secondary school or junior college/IB students, NSFs, and any polytechnic or ITE graduates who have not commenced university studies.

Original work

3. All entries must be the original work of the participant.

Publication

4. In the event that an entry is awarded a prize, the author consents to the publication of the essay on Maruah’s own social media channels, or on other publication channels at the discretion of Maruah. Essays will be attributed to the author and may be edited prior to publication

Mode of submission

5. Entries must be no longer than 2,000 words and must be submitted online in PDF, Google Docs or MS Word format.

Decisions of judges are final

6. All decision of the judges are final, including decisions on the eligibility of a contestant and on varying the number of prizes to be awarded.
