Benedict Jacob-Thambiah

Benedict was the Executive Director of Action for AIDS from 1997 t0 2005 and currently serves as the Programme Director of HEAT Consultants, that works on bringing HIV/AIDS Education And Training to workplaces and schools. He is also a consultant with a leading Singapore-based Public Relations agency.

Braema Mathi

Braema Mathi is a former Nominated Member of Parliament; a former President of AWARE and current Vice-President of AFA. She led Transient Workers Count Too and its precursor, Braema Mathi The Working Committee 2 from 2002-2007. She has worked as a teacher, a journalist, in senior management and in research

Caroline Lim

Caroline Lim is a current exco member of Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2) and volunteers her service at various NGO during her free time.

Cherian George

Cherian George is an assistant professor at the Nanyang Technological University’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. As a media scholar and writer, he has a special interest in freedom of expression issues.

Chng Nai Rui

Chng Nai Rui has been active in Singapore civil society since 1999. He has worked in the Singapore Parliament, and more recently as research assistant to a member of parliament in the British House of Commons. He has also conducted social development research and consultancy for development agencies like the Overseas Development Institute and WaterAid in Indonesia, the Philippines and Britain. Chng Nai Rui is currently a PhD candidate at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Clara Feng

Clara Feng is a lawyer with an interest in citizenry participation and youth development. During her school days, she served as a former Chairperson of the NUS Law Students International Relations Committee and was also a former Vice-President of the ASEAN Law Students Association. She has worked for an Indian rural development NGO on child workers issues. She is on the steering committee of SYINC, a youth group.

Constance Singam

Constance Singam holds an MA in Literature. She is a teacher, social activist and writer. She is the president of AWARE, a past president of the Singapore Council of Women’s organisations and a founder member of TWC1, TWC2 and MediaWatch. Her research interests over the past twenty years have been Singapore women’s history, feminist issues, and the state of civil society activism in Singapore. She has published several essays on these subjects. Her latest book – co-edited with Audrey Chin – “Singapore Women Re-Presented” was launched in Dec. 2004.

George Hwang

George Hwang is a dual qualified solicitor, England and Singapore. He has worked in many countries, including Hong Kong and the Bahamas. He volunteered as a lecturer for a NGO with a Bulgarian university. This is a capacity building exercise. George is a “neutral” with the Word Intellectual Property Organisation’s Arbitration Centre, a member of International Media Lawyers Association and an alumnus of Salzburg Global Seminar. He has been active with human rights work since university. His most recent foray in this area is one of a co- petitioner for the repeal of s377A, Penal Code in Singapore.

John Gee

John Gee worked chiefly on Middle East issues before coming to Singapore from Britain in 1999. He has worked as a freelance John Gee writer since then. He was an early member of The Working Committee 2 and has continued to volunteer with Transient Workers Count Too, of which he is currently president.

Lee Sze Yong

Lee Sze Yong first came to know about human rights through reading general knowledge books when he was young. He is currently working in an NGO that educates Singaporeans on their rights. Sze Yong dreams of becoming a military analyst that writes about human rights.

Leong Sze Hian

Leong Sze Hian is a Certified Investment Fiduciary Auditor, Wharton Fellow, alumnus of Harvard University and the inaugural United Nations University International Leadership Academy. He has served as Honorary Consul of Jamaica, Representative of the Inter-American Economic Council, President of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, Chairman of the Institute of Administrative Management, and founding Advisor to the Financial Planning Association of Indonesia.

Peter Cuthbert Low

Peter Cuthbert Low [aka Peter Low] is a trial lawyer and has about 30 years’ experience in court work. He is a former President of the Law Society. He has been and is still involved in Human Rights issues under the auspices of the Law Society as well as in his court work.

Paul Ananth Tambyah

Paul Ananth Tambyah is an Infectious Diseases Physician working at a local teaching hospital. He is a Singaporean, NSman, St. Andrew’s Alumnus, local graduate from NUS who did his postgraduate work in the United States and became interested in human rights issues through his daily work with people living in Singapore from all walks of life and their struggles with the system. He is involved in his personal capacity but wishes that someday, he would not have to say that.

Ron Chandran Dudley

Ron Chandran Dudley is founding President and current Honorary Secretary of the Disabled People’s Association. He is a humanitarian who has dedicated his life to changing the lives of the underprivileged both locally and internationally for many years.

Siew Kum Hong

Siew Kum Hong is a Nominated Member of Parliament. He is a lawyer by training, and is presently a corporate counsel in a US MNC. He has spoken on a broad variety of issues in Parliament, ranging from social welfare to retirement funding to the situation in Myanmar. Most recently, he presented a citizens’ petition to Parliament, calling for a law criminalising private, consensual sex between adult men to be repealed

Stephanie Chok

Stephanie Chok is a PhD student and member of Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2), where she volunteers on the helpline and is a member of its Research and Policy committee.

Stuart Koe

Dr Stuart Koe is founder and CEO of Fridae, one of Asia’s largest gay and lesbian media companies. An advocate for human rights and equality, Stuart was one of three petitioners in a Parliamentary challenge to the constitutionality of the anti- sodomy statute 377A in Singapore in 2007. He is currently a Board member of Hong Kong’s Aids Concern, a Trustee of the Singapore’s Action for AIDS Endowment Fund, and a long time AIDS activist. Stuart holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota, specializing in HIV therapy
